Images from Some of Our Teas and Other Special Events
SEPTEMBER 13, 2008--The famous kiss between the sailor and nurse recreated at a tea presented
by Trans-Oceanic. And on the far right is Edith Shain, the actual nurse
from that photograph (and featured in Linda Gunn's artwork in the center)
who was our special guest at the event.
OCTOBER 6, 2007--A Cruise Fashion Show and Luncheon featured women's apparel designs from
1936 through 1967, the years that the Queen Mary sailed.
TITANIC TEAS--One of Trans-Oceanic's most popular annual events is the Titanic Tea. At
these teas we recreate aspects of the voyage of the ill-fated ocean liner,
including having some of the most notable characters from the ship on hand,
such as the inimitable Molly Brown, portrayed by the inimitable Jenny Wentworth.
And Dennis Leslie provides extraordinary realism with his living history
recreations of various characters.
The Santa Teas
There are those who like to say that Christmas is for children. True enough,
but it should be a time of joy for adults, too. And at our Santa Teas,
boys and girls, men and women of all ages have come together for a joyful
celebration of the holiday spirit. As with all of our teas, there are lots
of door prizes and special gifts and as part of our commitment to the community,
we always invite a large number of children to be our guests at this event.
And we're proud to show off the kinds of wonderful items we serve at our
teas.

MARCH 30, 2008--It was a bright and beautiful Sunday when the legendary Queen Elizabeth
2 made her last port call to Los Angeles on her final world cruise. And
we once again chartered Spirit (the same boat from which we viewed the Queen Mary 2) to give Trans-Oceanic's
ocean liner friends the opportunity to accompany QE2 out of the harbor
for the last time. In the photo above, you can see her being backed down
the harbor channel. A container ship that had docked across from her made
turning her for a bow-first exit impossible. And below you can see her
exiting Angel's Gate, the Los Angeles Harbor entrance, for the last time.
NOVEMBER 15, 2008--The kick-off event for the Maritime Research Center, sponsored by Trans-Oceanic.
It was a great day on board the Sapphire Princess at the Port of Los Angeles.
Our fabulous private luncheon included a choice of salmon or Chateaubriand
and dessert was an incredible chocolate souffle. After lunch we had the
opportunity to explore the ship. Unfortunately, they made us get off before
she sailed for the Mexican Riviera. Photos courtesy of Charles Cotton.

JANUARY 27, 2009--We were pleased to welcome noted maritime author William Miller, Jr. to
the Maritime Research Center on Tuesday, January 27, where he conducted
an exclusive invitation-only book signing. A breakfast followed. Bill had
just arrived in Los Angeles on the Queen Victoria, which is on her 2009
World Cruise. Bill was a featured lecturer on board the first segment of
that World Cruise.
It was also great to have Bill's business partner, Abe Michaelson, join
us for the day and it's always a delight to see him.
We're grateful to Charles Cotton and Pine Hodges for coordinating this
event and arranging to transport Bill and Mickey to the airport for their
return trip east.
